Doing Life Together- the gift of TIME

Yesterday we ‘celebrated’ Valentine’s Day. And I put celebrated in quotes because our evening was quite simple, which is exactly what we both wanted.

When Bryan asked what I wanted or to do for the day, I said, no flowers, no cards, no chocolate… while I truly appreciate and love all that, they aren’t things I ‘need’. If that makes sense.

My response to him was that I simply wanted the gift of his TIME. Meaning I just wanted to unplug from social media, our business, the world- if even just for a couple hours so we could sit together and watch a movie uninterrupted.

He loved the idea and appreciated me telling him exactly what I needed, because ladies, they can’t read our minds. And guys, we can’t read yours either. If you need something from your spouse, TELL THEM! It makes life so much easier when you know what your spouse wants.

So we had leftover spaghetti for dinner, some healthy brownies with strawberries, and then we put on a favorite movie- The Greatest Showman.  We kept it simple, we snuggled up on the sofa with the dogs, and then we went to bed.

Some may say, ‘well that’s not very romantic’. It’s ok, we didn’t need it to be!! We just needed that time together. Because in this crazy hustle hustle hustle, grind grind grind world, you sometimes forget to stop and simply connect with the people you love. Then you wonder how you’ve drifted so far apart, or why you don’t know that person anymore.

My challenge to you today, if you didn’t disconnect last night from your phone, the world, your job, etc, make it a point to do so this weekend. Spend that time with your spouse, your kids, your family and reconnect. Phones down, tv off maybe, whatever that looks like for you.

Because most people just really want your time and attention…

Have a wonderful weekend friends!

Brandy 😊
