This weekend we ran The Play Dirty 5k Adventure race in Baton Rouge, LA. It was so much fun! Bryan and I ran it last year as well and had a blast! It’s a 5k obstacle course in the mud, soooooo dirty and fun!
Now I’m not a runner, never have been. I started my fitness journey with the couch to 5k program back in August 2011. I didn’t make it past week 7 because my legs were killing me. So when someone says, ‘let’s run a race’, I say no thanks! But when you say, ‘let’s go get muddy’, I say what time!?! I’m not interested in running the race for the time, I just want to do something different and have some fun with my fitness friends!
Now a couple years ago there’s no way I could have done a 5k obstacle course. I was out of shape, overweight, and didn’t care about being fit. Fast forward to today, and while there’s always room for improvement, I am in great shape and I love challenges and trying something different.
I’m already looking at my next muddy run in September, the Muddy Mayhem in Denham Springs that will benefit breast cancer. If you’re local, I’d love to see some of you out there. You don’t have to be a runner, you just have to want to get dirty and have a great time.
So get out your comfort zone! Do something different! And let’s get dirty!
Your Coach,
Brandy 🙂
