The more time we focus on the solution, the less time we have to focus on the problem.
THEN we start making progress!
All else falls into one of these three:
Distractions
Distractions are all things that happen in the past that have NO bearing on the future but to DISTRACT you from it. These are things that you have overcome, that you have moved on from. Challenges are things that can and will hold you back if you let them. BUT, we are not going to let them.
Now you may be thinking, “but I’ve got things from the past that STILL affect my life today.” These fall into the CHALLENGE category.
Challenges
Challenges are things from the past or present that WILL be overcome (change your language here and now because it changes your mind set from defeated and uncommitted one to one of determination.) because you can not move forward until you do. You can try but it will ALWAYS pull you back… and to succeed, you need ALL your focus and strength.
The thing about Challenges is that they can serve an amazing purpose… to make you GROW. By nature of a challenge, it is something that requires you to do more than you’re doing now… to BE more than you are now. To do that, you have to GROW. Some challenges require physical growth and some in body, heart, and mind, producing stronger character. Challenges become VICTORIES. Victories then move into the next category… MOTIVATION.
Motivations
Motivations are people, goals, or things that push you toward a better future. These can be victories from the past or present that motivate you for future goals. They can be people who lift you up and encourage you, or things that PUSH, DRIVE, or MOTIVATE you toward your ultimate goal. They are STEPS to be taken to keep pushing forward.
Motivations can be things that happened in the past… those distractions that became challenges and were overcome to create victories. HOWEVER, be aware of the fact that current victories do not guarantee future ones. This is where motivations can become distractions. What are distractions again? Things that happened in the past that have no bearing on the future.
Past victories can become distractions when we experience present challenges. We can look at victories and think, “I don’t understand. I accomplished THIS goal back then. Why am I having so much trouble with this new goal?” Instead, we must remember that the past victory needs to be put into service as a MOTIVATION that says, “I DID this in the past. Now I have a bigger challenge that I must grow even more to overcome.” Growing through even greater challenges produces even GREATER VICTORIES and GREATER MOTIVATIONS.
So now what?
I want you to focus today on the solution. Focus on the goal. Focus on the smaller goals that get you to the BIGGER goals that get you to the ULTIMATE goal. The ultimate goal? To create the BEST version of you possible. NEVER look at the past but to victories that drive you to your future. YOU are on a MISSION. The only way you accomplish that mission is to never give up… to keep on going… to fight through every challenge and emerge the victor. No matter how many times you fall, you get right back up.
Here’s something else I want you to do. It is something that, as you go through your own journey will help you even more to drive on. When you experience those victories, you experience that motivation and drive, and your eyes are opened to the possibilities… DO NOT keep it to yourself. Help someone else to do it. Pay it forward. Think about how you felt when your eyes were opened to what you could, no WILL be, and help someone else see that in themselves.
If you already have gone through these victories and you are wondering how to help others to do it too, we need to talk. That is a BIG step for you pushing yourself forward even more. When we lead others, we drive ourselves to grow even more by taking them along with us. We also leave the world a bit better than we found it.
Let’s talk about how you can help others to change their lives to find that BEST version of themselves and enable them to pay it forward too.
Let’s talk!
