I did my time and now I’m gone!
Which means, I finished the program, The Asylum, volume 1.
So what are my thoughts on this program…. Well, the most common question I keep getting is, “how much harder is it as compared to Insanity?”
Well, for me it’s hard to answer that because both programs are so completely different. Is it tough? Yeah, sure is. Is it impossible? Of course not! It’s all in what you put your mind to…. What I’ve learned with this program is, your mind will want to give up before your body will!
Which leads me to say, I did find this program more of a mental challenge than a physical challenge. I will try to explain… I love me some Shaun T first of all. But in Asylum, he is just downright tough. He may or may not give you a full water break, he may or may not let you catch your breath, he may or may not kill you… haha, just kidding…
I found I had to mentally prepare myself to do these workouts every day and just pep talk myself to finish it and do the best I could. And I did! I didn’t try to do what they did or all the reps or outdo them. I did what I personally could do.
As compared to Insanity- which is full blast nonstop cardio, Asylum is more sports and agility based, 30 days compared to 60, and only 2 true rest days, 3 fit tests on day 0, 15, and 30. Asylum comes with a jump rope and a ladder…. that should tell you something right there. To this day I still don’t use the jump rope but just mimic it…I am a clutz!
There’s 6 DVD’s that come with the program. My favorites were Strength because I got to throw some weights around, Back to Core that works your core like crazy which I love! Speed and Agility is a great one that works with the agility ladder, and Game Day is all sports oriented, doing moves from a variety of sports and super fun. There’s also Relief which is a great stretch DVD. And then there’s Vertical Plyo, which was my least favorite simply because I am not a fan of plyo.
Now time for results: I will say I did not eat the cleanest during this program due to events and birthdays during the program. However, my arms and shoulders and back are more toned, my core is tighter, and my abs are a little more defined. I lost about 3# and about an inch on my waist. For me, my goals were to get my abs more defined and to conquer the challenge of this program, and I did both. So I am happy.
If you’d like to talk more about this program, shoot me an email to CoachBrandy@itsthemartins.com. And I will ask you, do you dare enter the Asylum? Muahhahahahahhahaa 😉
Your Coach,
Brandy 🙂
